One of the biggest concerns people have when considering the purchase of a Shipping Container Home is how comfortable it will be — and how comfortable can any living environment be without proper climate control? This is why we take container home insulation very seriously and use closed-cell foam insulation.

Closed-cell foam insulation is a type of insulation that is denser than open-cell foam insulation. It is made up of cells that are completely closed, which makes it much more rigid and stable than open-cell foam that makes it better at keeping heat in or out of a structure than other types of insulation.

Here's a look at closed-cell foam insulation in one of our recent 40' floor plan container homes:

There are many benefits of closed-cell insulation. Here are a few:

1. Excellent insulation properties

Closed-cell insulation has a high R-value, which means it provides excellent thermal resistance. This helps to keep the interior of a building cooler in hot weather and warmer in cold weather.

2. Moisture resistance

Closed-cell insulation is resistant to moisture penetration. The closed-cell structure prevents water vapor from entering the material, which helps to prevent mold and mildew growth and reduces the risk of moisture-related damage.

3. Structural integrity

Closed-cell insulation is rigid and dense, which adds structural strength to walls, floors, and roofs. It can help to improve the overall durability and stability of a building.

4. Air infiltration barrier

By filling gaps and cracks, closed-cell insulation acts as an effective air barrier. This helps to reduce air leakage, improve indoor air quality, and increase energy efficiency by preventing drafts and heat loss.

5. Soundproofing qualities

Closed-cell insulation can also help to reduce noise transmission through walls and floors. It provides an additional barrier that absorbs and dampens sound waves, creating a more peaceful and quiet environment.

6. Fire resistance

Closed-cell insulation is often made from fire-resistant materials. It can slow down the spread of flames and can help to comply with fire safety regulations.

7. Long-lasting performance

Closed-cell insulation is known for its durability and long lifespan. It can maintain its effectiveness for many years without degradation, reducing the need for frequent replacements or maintenance.

Overall, closed-cell insulation offers a range of benefits that contribute to energy efficiency, comfort, and building durability. It is a popular choice for both residential and commercial applications.
